Version 1.2.2 Fixed My Encryption Problem

I tried encrypting a folder with 162 items using the previous version, and Encrypto crashed. Then I saw the update, updated, and was able to encrypt and send the result without problems. Thanks.

Easy to use, security with drag and drop ease

I am not a power user, but for the everyday user who is looking for a enhanced security program to kep their communications secure without spending any money this is the way to go. Setup and operation of the program is simple and straight forward, follow the instructions and you can be up and running in minutes. The fact that they have it for Windows as well makes it availible for ANYBODY, and that being the case there is no excuse not to be secure! Great program, keep it up!

Nice app for the little guy

Encrypto has been a useful security app to send and receive documents safely and secrectly. Works so far flawlessly for myself and others I have in my small circle of family and friends.Keep up the nice work MacPaw! Id recommend this to the government..lol..

Simple but elegant

Does what it suggests it should do and does so without the need of a long learning curve. The developer seems to be making advances frequently and is great about bug fixes. All-in-all, a winner!

Beautiful app

This app is as easy as it gets. If you want to secure your files quickly and easily, look no further. The fact there is a Windows client is amazing as well. This helps me keep sensative work documents, encrypted in the cloud without worry. I honestly can’t thank this team enough for this amazing little app. Also, LOVE the UI.

This app is more useful than they tell you

For more than a year I used the Secure Empty Trash feature in Finder to securely disgard of files with sensitive data. Little did I know that my Fusion drive was not compatible with this feature because of the way data is accessed on a Solid State Drive (SSD). This is an oversight on the part of Apple. IMHO, since the System Information app detects my Fusion drive, so the Findr app should not fall short in this area. Nonetheless, armed with this knowledge, I found a solution via encryption. Honestly, I could do this with Disk Utility alone, but Encryto is my second layer of security. So now instead of using the Secure Empty Trash feature in Finder, which is no longer available in OS X 10.11.x El Capitan, I use Disk Utility to create a 256-bit encrypted sparse bundle disk image. Next, inside this sparse bundle I create a folder, and move (Cmd+drag) all files and/or folders I wish to securely delete. Once all files and/or folders are inside this folder I drag the folder to the Encrypto app window to encrypt it with a finely crafted password, and save (save as) the encrytion file inside the sparse bundle. Finally, I eject the sparse bundle by clicking the eject icon in the Sidebar of the Finder, and put the sparse bundle in the Trash, and empty the Trash. It is not even necessary that I keep track of the passwords used to create the sparse bundle or the encrypted folder inside the sparse bundle because the sparse bundle is trashed. If you know how to create a finely tuned password, I think it is even more secure to delete files this way than it is to use software that would write over the data of the file(s) to be deleted, even up to seven times, but not up to 35 times because my data is not that sensitive. LoL Thanks for the freebie, MacPaw, Inc.! It is really great app!

I LOST FILES & CANT RECOVER THEM

NOT only have I lost files and cant recover them, I also can update a file that has already been encrypted…I’m so disappointed with this!!

did not recognize decrypt password. lost file!

I used this app 4 times the day I bought it to test it out. Worked as advertised. Encrypted a password file and left it on my laptop for about a week. When I came back to open the file it would not recognize the password I encrypted it with. I positively know it was the correct password as I’d saved it in another password app (Enpass). No matter how many times I tried it would not open the file. Luckily it wasn’t a file I needed. I don’t feel confident that this app won’t toast important files I may want to encrypt so had to delete it.

MacPaw FTW!

Another app from MacPaw that I highly recommend. Those guys make best software that I use every week for couple of times. 5 stars to Encrypto and it is such a great courtesy from their side that they give it for free.

MacPaw did it again!

What can’t MacPaw make great? Every app they make is just mindblowing. They all work so perfect. They should all come pre-installed on the Mac right out of the box!

Nice for encrypting and de-crypting

If your goal is to install this application on every machine you wish to share an encrypted file with, then this is the app for you. However this application is very limited with is compatibility. For example, you are created a duplicate version of your desired file(s) with their own filetype and password, so if you want to view or modify those files on another machine you are forced to use their software in order to do this. I would not recommend this application for those of you who simply want a way to password protect your files, as the added hassle of going back through the originating app tends to get annoying really quick.

Works well but suddenly stopped launching

I downloaded it and used it once and it worked well. Left it alone for a few months and it no longer opened. I’m not aware that I ever updated the app. I had to delete it from Applications and re-download it from the App Store to make it work again.
